The chicks are growing! They were getting too big for the galvanized stock tank I had them in. Their feathers were coming in and they wanted to spread their wings, so we finally got the coop ready to go and moved them out on their own a few days ago. So far, they seem to be loving it.

The coop is ready to for move-in
We have a nice run for the chickens, but they are still learning that the coop is their home and they can go in and out of it. When I let them out of the coop, they will not go back in, and with three people chasing chicks, it can take half an hour to catch them all to put them back in the coop. Based on this, I was leaving them in the coop, but it was definitely getting too hot for that. I finally learned the trick to getting the chicks inside the coop - food! In the morning, when I let them out of the coop, I put their food away. They still have access to water and are foraging throughout the day. In the evening, I show them their food, and then stick it in the coop. In they all go, just like that!
