Hi there! I’m Katherine.
Welcome to Dogwood Pond Farms, a place where I share everything that I have learned to live a healthy, natural and vibrant life. I love to grow fresh food naturally and organically. I also love to find ways to preserve what I grow so I can enjoy it all year long.

Growing up, I dreamed of living off the land and being completely self-sufficient. I never knew how that dream could play out in real life. As I grew up and tried different things, my dreams changed a little. I don’t know that I will ever be completely self-sufficient, but I found I still wanted to live as close to the land and my food as possible, and that’s what I strive for every day.
About Me
I grew up outside of St. Louis, Missouri, moving from the suburbs to the country at a formative time in my life. As much as I wanted to get away from small town living when I was a teenager, I came to appreciate and crave a life with no neighbors looking over my fence.

I lived in the city for about ten years, working in the corporate world before I ended up meeting my husband and getting him to move back out to the country.
I never realized how much the food we eat can impact our health. I have become a little obsessed with making sure I know where my food comes from and showing some love to my gut by making and using fermented foods and drinks.
Having chickens, turkeys and some pet sheep along with the garden and greenhouse has helped me to slow down and observe how nature works. I try to transfer nature’s simplicity and wisdom to my everyday life.
My husband, Kevin, works outside the house. He loves to work around the property as much as he can when he isn’t on the road or running a meeting.

A Few Fun Facts About Me:
I have degrees in French and Elementary Education.
I play the oboe in the local community band.
I love yoga and can almost do a headstand without using the wall (goals).
